Event Details

Iran is a huge market with many business opportunities for UK companies. However, doing business with Iran has been weakened by the unstable political situation, which makes commercial relations with Iran difficult to maintain. Chairman of the British Iranian Chamber of Commerce, the Rt Hon Lord Lamont, will share his experiences and visions for engaging with Iran with Vahid Alaghband, Chairman of Balli Group, and guests of Asia House.

The Rt Hon Lord Lamont of Lerwick

Best known in his previous incarnation as the Rt Hon Norman Lamont MP, the holder of one of the highest offices in the land, that of Chancellor of the Exchequer (Minister of Finance) from 1990 to 1993 in the John Major Government.

David Smith of the Sunday Times voted him the 3rd best Chancellor of the Exchequer since the War. Sir Alan Walters, advisor to Mrs Thatcher called him “not only the most effective but also the bravest Chancellor since the War”. Sir Malcolm Rifkind called him “a very good Chancellor……with a passion for radical reform”.
